Having worked for Mercedes Benz Trucks for the last 7 years (6 at dealer and now with what will soon be known as Daimler Truck UK) I have a passion for all things Mercedes and have both my own 2014 SLK250 AMG Sport plus my company car, a C300e AMG Premium Plus estate which I must say I am very impressed with. I have a great deal of experience with car clubs as prior to the SLK I have owned a couple of classic MG's but mainly a classic Mini with which I entered concours events (with the British Mini Club) and have a shelf full of trophies in the garage. I became disillusioned with the Mini concours scene because I drove my car as well as show it and I was constantly up against what I would call 'ornaments' that were delivered on trailers to events. The thing I miss about the scene though is the mid week meet ups and Sunday drives out so I'm hoping to revive that passion now by taking up this role. I'm not sure I want to revive the concours side of things with the SLK but as I am very particular about things being perfect then I may well show her off on occasions. I am also a member of the SLK owners club so taking the role of MRC for the R172/173 I hope to be able to use the 'collective brain' of other members to answer any questions that I don't know myself. Living in Burton on Trent, pubs for mid week meets aren't an issue round here and we have plenty of nice country ones to choose from that also do some great food so I'm looking forward to organising a regular event.
